ICE LANTERN STARSHAPE

In Norway it has been a long time tradition to make sculptures out of ice. It was here that the ice lantern with a stylish starshape was invented! Now it is possible for everybody to make a unique ice lantern with a beautiful starshape at home! With a candle inside it is a special and attractive decoration for in- and outdoor use! The ice lantern star shape comes in two sizes; 15 cm / 6 inch or 20 cm / 8 inch. The small size fits basically in every freezer with drawer. The mould is filled with water and placed in the freezer. After 12 to 24 hours the water is solidly frozen and the mould can be taken out. It has to acclimatize at room temperature for half an hour. Than pour warm water in the centre and after 5 minutes the ice will come out of the mould. The small size ice lantern will last about 3 hours at 70ºF/20ºC. The large size ice lantern will last about 6 hours at 70ºF/20ºC. For indoor use a bowl has to be placed under the ice lantern to collect the melting water. There are endless possibilities to decorate the ice cooler by freezing it with ornaments, fruits, food colour dye, seafood etc. or just by putting a candle inside.
